Is it Black Friday time?

 In News, Personal

It’s that time of year again! We have chosen not to partake in the Black Friday sales this year, because we already offer the lowest prices we can. The shop income supports our many free services across the community.

We do have a sale section on our website, and will be advertising some of our sale items during this week, but this reduced priced section is active all-year-round, so keep an eye out and some of your favourites might appear!

As a family-run local business, we pride ourselves on offering the best prices for families to ensure that everyone can benefit from babywearing – the mental health benefits of carrying for both infant and caregiver should be available to everyone, and together we can build happy brains.

When you buy a sling from us, or pay for a consult, or hire a sling, you are not only supporting a small business, but also a community initiative to give free education and access to the sling community to those who would benefit most.

We wanted to explain to our supporters why we are not partaking this year. Following the hard year that has faced us, it is impossible for us to lower our prices whilst also continuing the community and outreach work we do – including Sheffield Sling Surgery services, new parent groups, and the Building Bonds Project.

What free services do we offer?

On all of our sling purchases we offer a free fit check, all you need to do is select the Sling Spot 10 minute appointment here.

The Surgery provides free drop-in sessions (still running via zoom in 10 minute slots whilst lockdown is on!), to browse slings, get free advice from our experienced carrying consultants about which sling would suit them best, and be helped with fitting and practical uses. This is important to give people who haven’t used slings the confidence that they need to thrive.

The free Fourth Trimester group, part of our Sheffield Sling Surgery, is run by Rosie Knowles and Lindsay Snow and has been supporting new parents for almost eight years. Each week has a focused topic including: adapting to parenthood, understanding sleep, and caring for the postnatal body; with time for discussion, followed by a brief “sling bite” from one of the carrying consultants. This has served in the past as a great network for new parents with similar aged babies to form new friendships and decrease isolation.

The Building Bonds Project fits and donates slings and carriers to families in health, social or financial difficulties, who are unable to source their own carrier easily. They aim to break down the barriers to babywearing, making carriers accessible to those who need them most.

How can you support us year-round?

  • Choose to shop with us
  • Ask about our layaway payment plans
  • Book a consult
  • Recommend us to your friends

So we ask you, our supporters, in the coming week to keep an eye out for our sale items, but also to remember that every product and service you buy from us goes towards keeping these projects and activities running.

Thank you,
